“Kasbah” (2014)

A kasbah is a type of medina, or fortress (citadel). It was a place for the local leader to live and a defense when a city was under attack. A kasbah has high walls, usually without windows.

Erg Chegaga is one of two major dunes of the Sahara in Morocco, Is located about 50 km west of the rural town of M’Hamid El Ghizlane, 98 km south of the town of Zagora. With a length of approximately 40 km to 15 km wide, some dunes around a height of 60 m, it is the largest and wildest of Morocco. It is only accessible by 4×4, camel or on foot.

Erg Chebbi is one of Morocco’s two Saharan ergs (deserts)– large seas of dunes formed by wind-blown sand. The nearest town is Erfoud, about 60 kilometers further north. One other city is Rissani, around 40 kilometers from Merzouga.
